On Monday, August 8, the National Women’s Political Caucus of Washington (NWPC-WA) was joined by a great group of men committed to recruiting and training women to run for office. The NWPC-WA held its third annual Men for Women event, which was a resounding success.

We need more women in government, and there are a lot of men who want to help make it happen.

We were even joined by Governor Jay Inslee, who was excited about many smart, qualified women running for office this year. Our fantastic list of speakers included Congressman Denny Heck, the Hon. Bill Finkbeiner, Congressman Adam Smith, and many other men—from elected officials to friends—to show support. They shared their personal experiences in working with women as candidates and elected representatives.

Several candidates endorsed and supported by the NWPC attended, including Sen. Karen Keiser, Shelly Spier, Nicole Macri, and Erin Jones.

Thanks to the help of these men and so many others, the NWPC raised $4,000 to put directly into helping elect women in Washington State. We are fortunate to work with men who step up every day to ensure our government truly represents those it serves, and we are grateful for their support.

We have taken important steps towards gender equity in recent years, but to truly achieve parity in elected office, media, education, at our places of work, and in our society, we must have men who stand with us, stand up for us, and fight our fight. Thank you to the men of Washington who proudly proclaim themselves feminists, and join us in our fight onward!
